Overall, this isn't a bad book to have in your library Even though it doesn't have info on the most recent updates, it comprehensively covers the basics, and the new CiaB does not. I've used a few classroom in a book textbooks for my graphic design courses at Arizona State.
This book is just terrible compared to the books for InDesign, Photoshop, and Illustrator. This book is full of typos, small dark pictures, and unclear instruction. I would not suggest getting this if you're a complete newbie bfginners After Effects. If you've managed to mess around with the program and have a good feel for it, I would suggest this book as a guide at best. However you would probably be better off saving your money and following along with a tutorial found on Google or Pinterest.
